Red-winged Blackbird

I saw this Red-winged Blackbird in a "marshy" area at the
Izaak Walton Park in Christiansburg, Virginia

I like the way his tail fans out in this one :)

Squirrel Portraits

Choose being kind over being right, and you'll be right every time.
—Richard Carlson

These little guys really seem to like to pose for me!

Saturday

Saturday Dragons......Sort of

Well, not actually a dragon, but my first dragonfly
of 2008!
I think that means Spring is really here!!

He looks metallic green with light blue on his tail.
This is the same shot as above, I just rotated it to the right so you
could seem him horizontally. He actually landed vertically, as the
first shot shows. I was so excited that these shots turned out.
This guy was really TINY!
(click on the last pic to enlarge....it really makes a difference)
Happy Saturday Everyone!
PS - If anyone can identify this guy, please leave a comment! It would
be VERY much appreciated!!

We Remember - April 16th

One year ago today, the campus of Virginia Tech and
our small town of Blacksburg, Virginia was turned upside down.
Take time today to remember all of those that were lost....
and don't forget to say "I love you" to those special people in your lives.

There is Just Something About Yellow

Yellow Wildflowers Make Me Happy :)

Sun on a Hazy August Evening

There is JUST something about Yellow that puts me in a Good Mood!

Saturday

Bird in a Bush

Not to waste the spring I threw down everything,
And ran into the open world
To sing what I could sing...
To dance what I could dance!
And join with everyone!
I wandered with a reckless heart beneath the newborn sun.
— Roman Payne

I am not familiar with this bird - possibly a type of flycatcher. Seen near a wetlands area and pond. This was taken in the spring, as you can tell from the blossoms on the tree. I am not sure what type of tree that is either.

Friday

The Day is Done

Sunset from my front porch

My day is done, and I am like a boat drawn on the beach,  listening to the dance-music of the tide in the evening.
