A Unique Gift Idea

Several years ago I was searching for a unique Christmas gift for my brother and two sisters. Using Photoshop Elements (see link in my sidebar) I made a "sketch" from an image of my parents' hands using the Photocopy filter. I printed them on a heavy bond paper and put them in black frames.I am happy to say they were a HIT! Do you make gifts for your friends/family? Please share them with me.

very nice! I had been thinking of giving some of my photos framed as gifts this year but then I worry that photo/art is so subjective. I'm glad to hear yours was a success! That was the shove I needed!

What a neat gift! This is really clever. I love to make handmade gifts. Most of mine are sewn gifts. This year I made a Christmas table topper for one sister, some wine glass coasters for friends, and a roll up thing to hold crochet hooks for my other sister, and a crazy quilted stocking for a new baby in the family. There is never a year I don't make at least one gift for someone. I've never tried doing anything with my photos however. One sister would like cards made from my photos, but that isn't something I know how to do or have a program to do or a good printer.

This is a lovely idea - what a nice present to receive.
When my girls were little I used to try and make them something each every year but haven't done anything for a while.

What a delightful gift. You chose such a winner! I know it is greatly cherished. I did something smilar....our family home had only skeleton keys for the inside doors and I kept a few when the house was sold. I had them framed and gave them to my brother, sister and son. They, too, are cherished. Thanks for the new idea.
